City Hires Local Firm to Assist with Web Redesign Project

The Austin City Council unanimously approved today SteelSMBology Inc. to assist with the City’s Web redesign project, a key step in the City’s continuing effort to overhaul its Web site and promote a new era of open government.

 

SteelSMBology is a mutual partnership between Austin-based Steel Advertising & Interactive Inc. and SMBology Inc., which has offices in both Austin and Houston. 

 

"They've demonstrated a strong understanding of not only the technical and design requirements for a project like this, but also a unique understanding of the Austin community, which is vital to our success" said Doug Matthews, the City’s Chief Communications Director.

 

Phase 1 of the project will focus on analyzing gaps in the current City Web site and determine appropriate informational and technical architecture and design concepts.  SteelSMBology will also conduct usability testing of the current site to find ways to improve the site’s accessibility and overall functionality.

 

The findings of this initial phase of the project will define future direction for the AustinGO initiative, and establish technological and design specifications for the construction of a new site.
