SMBology to Head New Committee Formed by East End Chamber of Commerce to Help Area Businesses Make Informed Technology Decisions

HOUSTON – May 16, 2008 – The East End Chamber of Commerce (EECOC) announced today the creation of the East End Chamber of Commerce Technology Committee, spearheaded by SMBology. The Committee was formed to help local area business share collective knowledge and make informed decisions about technology purchases. The EECOC Technology Committee is one of only a few Chamber Technology Committees nationwide.

“We simply saw a need,” said Matthew Marcinek of SMBology and current Technology Committee Chair. “Companies of all sizes are trying to determine what types of technologies they need to run their business. None of them have an unlimited budget. We view the committee as a tremendous resource for businesses in the East End to share ideas, problems, experiences and best practices as it relates to technology implementations.”

The EECOC encompasses the community located along the East/South East side of Houston, known as the East End. The area was the backbone of early industry in Houston and remains the commercial center of the city today.

“The Technology Committee is very much in line with our mission and values,” said Diane Lipton, president of the EECOC. “We are constantly looking for ways to help the East End area businesses grow and succeed. And by working with SMBology to pioneer the Technology Committee, we feel this is a big step in that direction.” The EECOC has worked diligently to increase the exposure of the attributes that the East End provides for both businesses and residents. The EECOC focus is to draw new businesses to the community while advocating for strengthened education facilities.

The Technology Committee meetings will be held monthly at the EECOC offices.
