To ensure a successful SharePoint implementation, SMBology executes a phased approach for installing and effectively deploying SharePoint. Our focus on identifying problems and needs prior to installing Microsoft Office SharePoint as well as providing in-depth training allows for smoother organizational implementation and increased end-user buy in, the primary measurement of success.

Phase 1: Requirements Gathering

It is essential that all of an organization’s needs and expectations of the newly deployed system are understood and agreed upon. During this initial phase, SMBology works directly with you to define project goals, assess functional needs, understand future needs, and determine scope/scalability requirements to implement the best solution for your organization.

Phase 2: Information Architecture/Governance

Outlining use and management policies is essential to ensure company-wide adoption and create a positive user experience. During this phase, SMBology will work to define the site’s information architecture (IA) along with generating a site map. This includes creating a navigation structure and identifying where organizational information will reside within the SharePoint site. In addition, user access/roles are defined and content management procedures are outlined.

Phase 3: Template Design (Optional)

Custom SharePoint templates are developed by our user-experience/design team to reflect the organizational requirements defined in the previous phases and create a brand-consistent “look and feel.” Though recommended, this phase may be may be omitted in favor of using pre-existing templates provided by SharePoint.

Phase 4: Pilot Rollout/Installation

The previous steps provide the foundation for a successful SharePoint implementation to an established initial user group. Prior to the actual technology installation, SMBology’s SharePoint’s experts will develop a plan with your existing IT team (if applicable) and then begin to follow our established configuration and implementation methodology. The end-product of this phase is a successful SharePoint installation and pilot rollout to the defined initial user community.

SharePoint Training

Hands-on training is essential in realizing the full potential of SharePoint and how to best leverage this technology moving forward in your organization. In addition to supplying user documentation, expert training will be provided for the following core areas:

• Hardware and maintenance knowledge transfer
• Backup/restore
• Portal creation, configuration, and maintenance

Moreover, SMBology realizes that after the initial launch, questions may arise. As such, we offer follow-up training as necessary or requested. Typically, it is recommended that follow-up training occur 30 and 90 days after the initial launch to ensure users are fully realizing the technology’s organizational benefits.
